I’ve noticed a growing absence of the sober, logical analysis that once defined the Wall Street Journal’s reporting and editorial page. I take no partisan position in my writing, and if my critiques appear to fall more heavily on one side, it is because the Journal itself often seems to reach a conclusion first, and then construct a narrative to support it. Worse, this process appears to be selectively applied.
Too often, that narrative is riddled with logical fallacies and delivered in a condescending tone unbecoming of an august publication. These letters are my attempt to draw attention to that shift, and to encourage a return to impartial, principled journalism. To date, they have not published any of my letters.
I don’t take sides. I only ask that any conclusion be grounded in facts, logic, and intellectual honesty.
